Day Trip- Short on time but would still like to experience a day in the life of a Naso Indian? This expedition is designed to give you a rich introduction to the Naso way of life while highlighting some of the spectacular wildlife of the area, all in a condensed 9:00am- 4:30pm schedule so that you can continue your additional travel on a timely basis. Includes round trip transportation to Soposo from Changuinola and back, traditional lunch, guided hike, and cultural activities. This is perfect for visitors to the Bocas del Toro Islands who would like to get away from the beach for the day and experience the rainforest. NOW AVAILABLE!
Overnight- Experience a night in the jungle and wake to the calls of tropical birds. This tour offers you the opportunity to hike in the rainforest, get a dose of Naso culture and relax in jungle style. Enjoy a traditional balsa raft trip back down the river on the second day. Includes round trip transportation to Soposo from Changuinola and back, all meals, several guided hikes, one night stay at Soposo Lodge and cultural activities. NOW AVAILABLE!
Two night/ Three day- This expedition features a day excursion to Sieyik, the Naso capital and home to the Naso king (the only remaining monarch in all of the Americas), located a 2-3 hour boat trip up the Teribe river. Includes round trip transportation to Soposo from Changuinola and back, all meals, two night stay in lodge or with a Naso family, trip up river to Sieyik, several guided hikes, and cultural activities. Five night/ Six day- For those hoping for a true immersion experience, this expedition offers the option of an overnight home stay with a Naso family in the Naso capital of Sieyik and a trek to Druy, another Naso community, through the pristine mountain wilderness. Includes round trip transportation to Soposo from Changuinola and back, all meals, three night stay in lodge, two night home stay, trip up river to Sieyik, several guided hikes, and cultural activities. Sample of a two night/three day itinerary
Day One: Be met by a Soposo Representative in Changuinola at 9am. Taxi ride to El Silencio Teribe river port. Trip up Changuinola river in traditional dugout canoe with motor enjoying the lush tropical scenery. Stop along the scenic river to hike and enjoy a delicious packed lunch. Travel up the Teribe River to the Soposo river port for a trek through rainforest to spot native flora and fauna and maybe even a fresh coconut to quench your thirst! Arrive at the Soposo Lodge in time for a tasty traditional meal prepared with locally grown crops! Relax in the traditional style cabins and rest up for another big day of adventure.
Day Two: This morning kicks off with more birdsongs and after breakfast a short lesson in the Naso language. Today is your visit to Sieyic, the capital of the Naso region. Enjoy the spectacular scenery of La Amistad International Park as you make the 2-3 hour journey upriver in dugout canoe. Arrive in Sieyik and experience the warmth of a Naso welcome, complete with traditional song and dance. Lunch will be served and you can practive your Naso with the friendly people of Sieyik. The afternoon will feature a hike through the community to see the palace of the only king in the Americas, a tour of a botanical medicine garden and a culture presentation of traditional Naso dances and local artisans . The boat ride back down will be just as beautiful but much quicker and we will be back at Soposo in time for another delicious meal. Celebrate your last night with us around another campfire and get your fill of Naso folklore.
Day Three: After a leisurely breakfast, you will say goodbye to the beautiful scenery of Soposo Rainforest Adventures headquarters and take the canoe down to the final stop in your tour. You will be able to tour our own organic farm and see how native crops are grown and harvested. Please help us by planting a tree for our reforestation project. Your last, and perhaps most exciting adventure, still awaits you. You will travel back down the Teribe river as the Naso people traditionally do- on a balsa raft! A taxi will be waiting in El Silencio to take you back to Changuinola by 2pm. What a wonderful adventure- we hope you will have an unforgettable experience with us!

Examples of Culture Activities Offered:
· Talk about Naso culture and tradition
· Learn about traditional crops and methods of cultivation by helping to plant and harvest on a working Naso farm.
· Lesson in Naso Language
· Tour of Botanical gardens
· Performance of Traditional Dance
· Learn to make a traditional handicraft with instruction from a local artisan
· Practice traditional fishing techniques (or just enjoy a dip in the refreshing river!)
· Evening of traditional Naso storytelling over a campfire
· Cooking class for preparation of native foods
· Horseback rides (additional cost)
· River trips on traditional style balsa rafts
Certain cultural activities will be offered weather permitting and according to the personnel available. All guided hikes will be led by our experienced bi-lingual guides, who will identify native flora and fauna and explain local uses for certain plants and animals.
All expeditions will provide ample time for photographing and documenting your experience. Should you have any special requests regarding certain activities, we would be happy to tailor an expedition to meet all of your needs and personal interests.
All of the meals served at Soposo Rainforest Adventures will be made from the finest and freshest locally produced ingredients. Meals regularly include fresh river fish, root vegetables, native greens, much fresh tropical fruit and local grown poultry and eggs, but can be modified to your preference and diet.
